CNY: day 3

今日,好多(好多)人在茨廠街的關帝廟拜神。我媽媽是其中一位。雖然煙到眼淚水出來,很多人看起來是開心的。

CNY's eve

去舊迎新﹗但也不至於通通都送走。舊與新的混合都具有意思的。人﹐總需要些回憶吧。

恭喜發財!撈囉!撈囉!

Sunny Saturday

A few days ago, I thought about visiting Ampang's legendary Koreatown. Thanks to K-popped! Trio, I figured out how to get there. Visited four Korean Marts there, and they all had one thing in common – no price tag in most products... hmmm...

The marts' interior were very homely. The whole atmosphere just reminded me of Chinese marts in England. However, people here were much more friendly and polite :-) One shop even gave me a discount for Chilsung Cider hehe.

The sun was so happy serving us today! Too happy perhaps... me and mum nearly melted scrubbing the balcony's floor.

Kimchi Jiege (Kimchi and Pork Soup) for dinner.

How to make:
1)
Put 2 cups of water and 250g kimchi in a pot, bring to a boil.
2)
Add 100g diced pork and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes.
3) Add in more water. Then, add some finely chopped spring onions, fresh chili and cook for another 10 minutes.
4) Remove from heat. Serves 4 with rice and flavoured laver.

South Korea: day 7

Final day in Seoul. I had to try Lotteria! Hanwoo Steak burger was yummy! It had broccoli, mushrooms and mashed potato on top of a piece of juicy beef burger!

Incheon International Airport was not bad as it had many to offer for last minute shoppers in the main departure hall such as kimchis (in mini packs with wide variety) and many other Korean foods; CDs/VCDs/DVDs (at Shinsegae), magazines, etc. So, do allow some extra time to explore because once you passed the custom counters, there are mostly Duty-free shops, which to me, are not very interesting.

My flight was 16:45. Perfect time for a window seat.

South Korea: day 6

Lovely morning in Dongdaemun Market... very interesting hoarding for the upcoming Dongdaemon Design Plaza & Park (launching 2010)...

Leeum Samsung Museum of Art (Hangangjin Station, Exit 1) comprised of two major exhibition facilities: MUSEUM 1 for Korean traditional art and MUSEUM 2 for Korean and foreign contemporary art. Kind of disappointed with the museum shop though...

National Museum of Korea (Ichon Station, Exit 2)... it was of massive scale.... and beautiful.

Shopping at Lotte Mart (Seoul Station, Exit 1) was fun and the buckwheat noodles at Woo Lae Oak (Euljiro 4 ga Station, Exit 4) was a little expensive but had the most terrific flavour!

South Korea: day 5

Last day in Daejeon. It was a quiet snowy morning. Mrs Hwang made some brown seaweed soup for Mr Hwang's and my birthday for breakfast...

Returned to Travelers A Hostel.

Namsan N Seoul Tower (Cable Car: Myeong Dong Station, Exit 1). I was eager to see the city of Seoul in this bright sunny morning :-)

South Korea: day 4

Good morning!! We're going to Muju Ski today!

Lotteria's Coffee was refreshing... and skiing was hard!

We had BBQ duck for dinner that evening! I was somehow intrigued by the cleverly designed stove :-)
